Edward Antony Benbrook, a native of New Jersey, received his D.V.M. (1914) from the University of Pennsylvania. Margaret Wragg Sloss (1901-1979) was the first woman to receive a doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University. She was born in Cedar Rapids and raised in Ames, Iowa.
