Edward Antony Benbrook, a native of New Jersey, received his D.V.M. (1914) from the University of Pennsylvania. He was employed as an assistant, instructor, and Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania (1914)and Oklahoma A & M (1915-1918). Margaret Wragg Sloss (1901-1979) was the first woman to receive a doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University. She was born in Cedar Rapids and raised in Ames, Iowa. She received her Bachelor of Science in 1923, Master of Science in 1932 and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1938, all from ISU.
